According to Indian media, the 77-year-old mother of actor Salil Ankula was found dead in her flat in Pune on Friday, October 4.
Police say that 77-year-old Mala Ashok Ankula’s throat was cut, while looking at the injuries, it appears that he committed suicide by cutting his own throat.
The Indian police told the media that the tragic incident came to light when Mala Ashok’s maid came to the flat for work and when the actor’s mother did not open the door, the maid informed her relatives in distress. .
According to the police, when the door of the flat was opened, the actor’s mother was found dead, her throat had been cut and apparently she had cut her throat with a kitchen knife.
It is being told in the media reports that Mala Ashok Ankula was suffering from mental illness and maybe that is why she took her life.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sandeep Gill said that we found his body in a suspicious condition, we are investigating whether it was natural death, suicide or murder.
He further said that the actual cause of death will be revealed only after the post-mortem report, but the investigation is ongoing in all aspects of the incident.
Salil Ankula is a well known face in India but not as an actor but through TV shows, he also played lead roles in Sanjay Dutt’s films including Vikral Gabral and Ash Koi Hai.
Salil Ankula made his Test debut in November 1989 with the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar of the Indian cricket team and took two wickets in that Test but did not play a Test match after that.
He was also among the players who made his ODI debut alongside Sachin Tendulkar, but could only play 20 matches for India.
Salil Ankula retired from professional cricket in 1998 at the age of 28 and then started working in films and dramas.
