Series against Zimbabwe; Decision to rest key players

It has been decided to rest senior players including Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi for the white ball series against Zimbabwe in November this year, while young players are likely to get a chance in their place.

Babar Azam, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah have been rested after the worst defeat at home in the first Test match against England. Kamran Ghulam, Nouman Ali and Sajid Khan were given a chance in the second match of the series. who played an important role in winning the Multan Test, the series decider will be played in Rawalpindi from October 24 to 28.

The final decision on the rested players will be taken at the meeting on Sunday.

The white ball series against Zimbabwe is scheduled to start from November 24 in which 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches will be played.

The selectors are also considering the selection for 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches for the tour of Australia, which will begin on November 4 in Melbourne.

Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah will be brought back into the squad for this series and Mohammad Rizwan may be given the leadership duties.

Babar Azam’s captaincy was heavily criticized after his poor performance in the T20 World Cup, after which he resigned while the captain’s name has not been announced yet.
